I feel as if there has been a new beginning. This gentle process of poetry learning and opening has unmasked so much.

FIND WORDS FOR WONDER

Join me for 30 days of this gentle writing practice where we sit still in nature, see what we notice, and write it down. Together, we choose what we give our attention to, and use this writing practice to bring calm into our days.

Each day we take a few minutes to connect with the natural world around us. As we sit quiet and still, what do we notice? What do we see, hear, sense and feel? In finding words to express the experience, we connect our inner world to the world around us.

Each day I will share some reflections on nature writing and poetry. I invite you to share your writing, as well as any reflections on the practice. Your sharing is warmly welcomed, but optional. You get to choose!

We are not aiming for finished poems necessarily, but rather the practice that makes poetry possible—presence, attention and putting our first words on the page.

HOW IT WORKS

In a private online space, each day for 30 days you’ll receive:

  • A short, heartfelt reflection from me on nature, writing, and presence

  • A gentle prompt or invitation to guide your own writing

  • A space to share your own writing, reflections, or to simply receive

  • My acknowledgement and reflection on the writing you share

You can complete the practice in just 15 minutes a day, or linger longer if you wish. There is no pressure, and no expectations. Everybody participates in the way that best suits them.

This daily practice has really filled me with joy, helped me to see with fresh eyes, and given me so much more confidence to share my writing.
