Welcome

I am delighted to guide you through this visualisation to meet the land you live on.

Establishing a relationship with my own land brought me deep peace. It gave me a feeling of belonging and profound safety that I had never experienced before. It also brought forth poems, many of which became The Land Will Hold You.

The land you live on already recognises you and is communicating. Maybe you sense that, or maybe not. This guided visualisation is a way to bring the already-present connection into clearer and more conscious awareness. I hope it is the start of an ongoing conversation between you and the land you live on.

Using the visualisation

  • The visualisation is 15 minutes long.

  • I invite you choose a time and place where you will be uninterrupted.

  • Take a few minutes to relax, breathe deeply and slow down before you begin.

  • At the end, allow yourself to come out of it slowly.

  • You might like to have a journal handy to capture your experience in writing, if you wish.

DEEPEN THE CONNECTION

  • Repeat this process as often as you like. We often have different and deeper experiences each time.

  • Create your own version that you take yourself through on a regular basis. Include things you’ve liked from this one, and change and expand it to make your own. You could record it, or just do it from memory.

A couple of years ago I created a meditation garden. It is a place in my mind that I imagine going to, to access and spend time with different energies. I built it like a real garden, and over time it has grown to include more and more spaces. I love it!

  • If you enjoyed the visualisation you may also enjoy my course, 30 Days of Nature Poetry. We spend some time each day becoming present, noticing what is happening around (and inside) us, and then writing about it. Poetry is a perfect medium for expressing the intangible, often spiritual, experiences in nature. The next round of Nature Poetry is in early 2026. You can read about it here.

    From Nature Poetry participants:

“All the invites to connect and to write gave a way for my healing heart to let it all pour out. I never knew I had so much to feel and to write.” — Joanna W

“In the beginning it was a fun, give it a go, creative writing exercise. I now see this as another tool in my kete to go inward, to enter the liminal space that nature is a doorway to.” — Maria G

“It was an amazing, rewarding course. Each day is an absolutely joy.” — Christine B
