The Invisible

The invisible heat
of the fire
makes the landscape shiver,
ripples its surface like old glass;
telling a charming tale of
what lies beyond.

Our invisible
everything
radiates,
rolls off us like waves;
our story—a smokescreen
of cinder, ash, and ember—
barely there at all.
