Precognition

The Sun’s light edges across the land,
spreading over the turning Earth.
We wake into a day
already alive and waiting.

We wake into a life already pregnant
with the thought of us,
preceding ourselves just as
the Sun’s light precedes the day.

We know more than we think—
missives from the horizon
whisper us this way and that—
listen…see what I see.
