“It’s Not Too Late”: A Poetry Workshop

Saturday 27 February - REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED!

We begin with the opening line from my poem It’s Not Too Late, and end with your very own poem—a clarion call from the deepest part of you.

Join me for this live workshop where I guide you to write your own poem and give voice to what it is you really long for.

We will also explore the tangible magic of the written word, and I will share how the contents of the poem became real in my life…

Haven’t written a poem before? This is designed with you in mind. It wasn’t that long ago that I was where you are now. I remember both the desire to write, and what it felt like to have no idea where to begin. Let me gently show you how.

It is not too late

A B O U T T H E P O E M . . .

It’s Not Too Late was written in 2018 and features in my poetry collection Lullaby for Mothers. This poem has been so popular with readers. People regularly reach out to me about it.

The poem poured out of me; a literal torrent of things I still wanted to do and yet more that I never knew I longed for. Without setting out to do so, most of the things in this poem have since come to pass.

Despite being a list of things deeply personal to me, it speaks to the heart of the longing we each have within us. There are things each of us still want to do! We all long to know there is still time. We all want to know it’s not too late for the things that matter to us.

I’m excited to help you write your way to the longing that wants to be seen, heard, voiced and lived through you.

The deeper part of us knows what we want and need, even when our thinking mind does not.

But that part of us speaks in other-than-ordinary terms. She is all feelings, images, metaphors, single words, music … the language of poetry. Poetry is deeply connected to our intuitive self, our wild self, our creative self, our soul self—whatever you like to call her.

For me, poetry and intuition and knowing all come from the same place. The workshop will include practices for listening to the deeper part of ourselves, and for capturing it in poetry.

I’ll show you how to step away from linear language and perfect grammar, and grab hold of the wild, weird and wonderful language of your deepest self instead.

“As a guide and catalyst for tuning into that voice within, Mary blows me away. It’s transformative in both a gentle and a deep way.” ~ TraceyKay

“I can't recommend Mary Walker or her course on creative expression enough. If you have an insistent sense that there is something you want to say or create but are feeling stuck, Mary is a wise and brilliant guide.” ~ Hyeon-Ju

“If any of you long to free the creative voice within, this is the class. Mary Walker is a gentle-but-oh-so-wise guide who helps you open the portal of your creative heart.” ~ Kate

“Mary Walker is brilliant at showing you the way to tune into whatever creative impulses you might have. Every whisper we receive is a clue, and Mary’s course helps you take those whispers and turn them into tangible creations. (Plus, she’s a complete delight!!)” ~ Tracey
